Tanning bed rash can be avoided if you read this

Some people feel that using an indoor tanning bed is safer than being outside in the sun.  This is not always the case.  You can develop a tanning bed rash similar to heat rash when out in the sun because your body, especially your skin gets very warm.  A rash can develop when using a tanning bed because of the intense heat generate from them often times within a small tanning room.

A common tanning bed rash is called polymorphous light eruption which is a skin reaction to ultraviolet radiation (sunlight). Symptoms can include small, red pimples and blisters that appear on the skin 1-4 days after using a tanning bed.  These often disappear within 2 weeks so don’t get alarmed.  If they don’t clear up soon after that, contact your doctor immediately.

Another common tanning bed rash can be caused from certain medications that you are taking when you use a tanning bed. Reactions that may occur include blistering or a painful skin rash. If this happens, stop using the tanning bed until you are complete done taking your medicine.  You may also want to consult your doctor before starting up again.
